A new poll co-conducted by the Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center based at the University of Chicago shows that Americans generally disfavor a Trump comeback to the White House.

According to the findings released by AP earlier this week:

  • 70% of respondents do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.
  • 44% of Republican respondents do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.
  • 93% of Democrat respondents do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.
  • 63% of independent respondents do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.

In addition to the partisanship variable, the poll studied the influence of the level of education on Trump's popularity:

  • 80% of respondents with a college degree do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.
  • 65% of respondents without a college do not want Trump to run for president in 2024.

However, the AP-NORC poll concluded that despite being generally perceived as unpopular, Trump has the highest "net favorability" among any potential Republican candidate for the presidency.

  • 34% of respondents have a favorable view of Trump
  • 4% of Democrat respondents have a favorable view of Trump.
  • 68% of Republican respondents have a favorable view of Trump.

Mike Pence and DeSantis lag behind Trump with 33% and 31% favoring their presidential candidacy respectively.

It was reported earlier in April that more than a whopping 50% of Republicans are fully prepared to support former US President Donald Trump's return to the presidential arena during the next elections scheduled for 2024, as per a YouGov poll.

According to the YouGov poll results, 52% of Republican supporters are ready to vote for Trump, followed by support for running candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 21%.
