Former US President Donald Trump now has the support of nearly forty House Republicans, according to Axios.

Trump has the support of 37 House Republicans, including nine of the 25 Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee and 11 of the 26 Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, Axios added.

The endorsements could significantly boost Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, even though the former president is currently facing criminal charges in New York.

According to Axios, two of Trump's Republican supporters, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan and GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, have been in regular contact with Trump about the Republicans' investigations into US President Joe Biden and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Trump announced on Friday that he will appeal a grand jury indictment against him in Manhattan, claiming that the officials involved in the case are biased. Acting Justice Juan Merchan of the New York State Supreme Court has authorized Bragg to inform the public that an indictment against Trump has been filed with the court.

A grand jury in Manhattan voted on Thursday to indict Trump on charges related to his alleged involvement in a hush money payment and cover-up of financial records involving an alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump has denied the allegations, as well as the affair with Daniels, and has called the investigation a "witch hunt."

US media reports indicate that Trump will travel to New York on Monday, ahead of an arraignment hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier this week, Former US President Donald Trump extended his lead in the GOP primary campaign while incumbent President Joe Biden continued to face doubt from Democratic primary voters, as per a national survey released by Fox News.

A list of 15 announced and possible candidates for the GOP nomination in 2024 was read to Republican primary voters. According to the poll, which was issued on Wednesday, Trump has a 30-point advantage over Ron DeSantis and has doubled his margin since February (54%-24%). He increased by 15 last month (43%-28%).

Third place went to Mike Pence with 6%, followed by Liz Cheney and Nikki Haley with 3% each, and Greg Abbott with 2%. Just 3% are uncertain, and none of the others earned more than 1% support.

With the exception of white men with a college degree, where DeSantis is up by 12 points, Trump gained support from nearly every important group.

The poll also showed that Trump is supported by 60% of the subgroup of voters who supported him in the 2020 general election, while DeSantis is supported by 25% of them and Pence is supported by 5% in the GOP primary.
