Pro-Palestine NGO accuses France of complicity in Gaza genocide
Europalestine has provided the ICJ with evidence that proves France, led by Emmanuel Macron, is complicit in the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Europalestine has sent the International Court of Justice (ICJ) a 27-page report explaining France's complicity through its diplomatic, military, and economic support of the Israeli occupation since October 2023, according to co-founder Olivia Zemor.
Throughout multiple occasions and demonstrations, the organization even accused France of encouraging the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Co-founder Nicholas Shahshahani brought forth evidence to support Europalestine's report, providing the example of President Emmanuel Macron advocating for an international military coalition to fight the Palestinian Resistance following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Moreover, the French government has consistently confirmed that French citizens serving in the Israeli occupation forces will not be prosecuted for fighting in Gaza and Lebanon, where "war crimes were possibly committed."
Macron recently denied that France was supplying "Israel" with weapons used in Gaza, however, Europalestine and other associations have continued slamming the government and the West for their inaction and negligence toward stopping the war on Gaza, despite the United Nations Security Council demanding an immediate ceasefire.
French politics have become clearly divided and focused on the genocide in Gaza, with the left wing echoing slogans and demands heavily present in pro-Palestine rallies and using them to defeat Macron and his governmental coalition.
In this context, Shahshahani said, "The Palestine question is a world question. It's universal, and it makes sense that some political parties, La France Insoumise of Mélenchon, for instance, insist wherever they can, that means, including inside the French Parliament, to defend the rights of the Palestinian people."
The left opposition party has been regularly using the word "genocide" to describe the Israeli massacres against Palestinians in the Strip.
Although NGOs and opposition parties and politicians state that genocide is occurring in Gaza and advocate for the recognition of a Palestinian state, as well as sanctions and an arms embargo on "Israel", there is little indication that France or other Western nations will respond to these demands.
'Diplomatic rebellion' against Macron's pro-'Israel' bias
Last November, a group of ten French ambassadors to Arab nations openly rebelled against President Macron's perceived shift toward a "pro-Israeli stance" by collaboratively composing and signing a communication addressed to the president, French newspaper Le Figaro reported.
The memorandum, signed by around 10 French ambassadors, criticized Macron's departure from "France's historically balanced stance on the Israeli-Palestinian struggle."
The ambassadors viewed this deviation as unprecedented in modern French diplomatic history with the Arab world. The document, seen by a diplomat in Paris, was directed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently sent to the Elysee Palace, potentially signaling a diplomatic rebellion.
The ambassadors emphasized that France's pro-"Israel" stance in the ongoing war on Gaza contradicts their country's "historically balanced position."
"Our interlocutors feel that we are betraying ourselves; they believe that our discourse based on humanism is in contradiction with our new approach," the note says according to the newspaper.
This came after Macron showed unwavering support for the Israeli occupation. During a visit to Tel Aviv, and without mentioning a single Israeli massacre or war crime, he reiterated his statements regarding the "right of the Jewish state to defend itself."
Although he has called for a ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza while taking firmer stances toward "Israel", France has not made any significant effort to stop the Israeli assaults on either Gaza or Lebanon.
Instead, he continues reiterating "Israel's" right to "defend itself" and extending the country's support for the occupation.
France has always stood by Israel. Israel’s existence and security are non-negotiable for France and the French people.
