Prominent Druze leader warns of Israeli 'vile' plot in Majdal Shams
The head of the Druze Lebanese Democratic Party says that the occupied Golan will not "fall into the trap of Israel's claimed objective to protect minorities."
The head of the Druze Lebanese Democratic Party LDP and former member of Parliament, Talal Arslan, asserted that what happened in Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan, "is nothing but a vile and failed attempt" by the Israeli regime to "detach the Golan from its natural geographical and familial connections."
An explosive projectile of unknown origin struck on Saturday a football field in the occupied Syrian village of Majdal Shams, which is made up almost entirely of Druze Syrians. The explosion killed at least 12 Arab Syrian civilians, including children, and wounded dozens.
The Israeli occupation accused Hezbollah of being responsible for the attack. However, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon categorically denied the claims, stating that it had no connection whatsoever with the incident.

The prominent Druze leader emphasized that the occupied Golan "has always and continues to reject any conspiracy against its Syrian Arab identity," adding that "it is the depth of our Resistance and an integral part of the occupied [Syrian] territories that will only return to its natural state through steadfastness and resistance."
He also affirmed that the occupied Golan "will not fall into the trap of Israel's claimed objective to protect minorities," explaining that the occupation's true aim with this project is "to fragment the region into small states that protect its illegitimate borders."
The head of the LDP also noted that repeated Israeli attempts "to hide behind civilians to escape its predicament in the face of the world's peoples "will not succeed, and the [people of] Golan, both elderly and youth, will reject it."
"We will always and forever reject [the Israeli plot]; this is our accustomed history, and we will embrace it as an honorable path as long as we live."
The free people in the world and the Arab nation, especially the nationalistic and Arab Druze, stand with the Golan "heart and soul," he concluded.
'Ready to confront Israeli plans'
Shortly following the incident in Majdal Shams, the head of the largest Druze party in Lebanon, the Progressive Socialist Party, emphasized the need for vigilance against Israeli efforts to ignite conflicts, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs who perished in the occupied Syrian Golan.
Walid Jumblatt remarked that in light of Hezbollah's statement denying the involvement of the Islamic Resistance in the bombing of the occupied Syrian village, everyone must be aware of the Israeli occupation's attempts to sow discord.
He called on all people in Lebanon and the occupied Golan Heights to be cautious of "any provocation or incitement within the enemy's destructive agenda."
The Lebanese political figure underlined that the occupation has long been working to incite strife, fragment the region, and target its components.
"We have previously thwarted the Israeli plans," he added, but they "re-emerged, and we are ready to confront them alongside the resistance and all freedom fighters."
President Joe Biden's administration alleged the projectile was launched "from Lebanon", and expressed concern that the event could escalate into a full-scale war between the Israeli occupation and Hezbollah, according to a report by Axios.
Citing a US official, Axios also reported that Hezbollah officials told the UN that the Golan Heights incident was the result of an Israeli interceptor missile hitting the field.
