On November 22, Jordan signed a "declaration of intent" with "Israel" to enter into a negotiating process to discuss the feasibility of a joint energy and water project.
Announced at the Expo 2020 in Dubai in the presence of US climate envoy John Kerry, the signed "declaration" between Amman, "Tel Aviv", and Abu Dhabi is the largest cooperation agreement ever between the three.
According to the agreement, a UAE company would generate renewable energy in southern Jordan, because the region has enough brightness from sun rays to generate clean electric energy, and then sell it to the Israeli side. In return, Jordan gets desalinated water,
In response, several Jordanian MPs walked out from Parliament on Wednesday in rejection of the water-for-electricity agreement their government signed with "Israel", leading to the absence of a quorum.
For its part, the National Campaign to Overturn the Gas Deal with "Israel" confirmed that decision-makers in Jordan shifted from political normalization to imposed normalization on Jordanians after signing a declaration of intent regarding the water-for-gas deal with the Israeli occupation.
