Putin overlooks nuclear response drills after Kiev 'dirty bomb' threat
The drills were observed by the Russian President who said that the war may turn nuclear.
Russian President Vladimir Putin overlooked drills carried out by his nuclear-capable forces as Russia accuses Ukraine of developing a "dirty bomb."
"Under the leadership of... Vladimir Putin, a training session was held with ground, sea and air strategic deterrence forces, during which practical launches of ballistic and cruise missiles took place," the Kremlin said in a statement.
The drills were observed by the Russian President, who said that the war may turn nuclear, from a control room.
A video that Russian media circulated showed a submarine crew preparing to launch a Sineva ballistic missile from the Barents Sea in the Arctic. Test missiles were also launched from the Kamchatka peninsula in far east Russia.

Today, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Kiev is planning a terrorist sabotage act using a "dirty bomb" and Moscow will continue to exert strained efforts to prevent such irresponsible activity.
"We have information that indicates an existing threat of a dirty bomb from Ukraine. We have information that indicates that Ukraine is preparing for such a terrorist act," Peskov declared in a press conference. He also added that Russia will build a policy of ensuring its own security.
Russia and China discuss dirty bomb
It is also worth noting that the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke with his Chinese counterpart Wei Fenghe, raising concerns about potential provocations by Ukraine using a "dirty bomb".
"The situation in Ukraine was discussed. Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu conveyed to his Chinese counterpart concern about possible provocations by Ukraine with the use of a "dirty bomb," the Ministry said.
This comes two days after the chief of Russia's armed forces' radiation, chemical, and biological defense Gen. Igor Kirillov revealed that Ukraine's development of a "dirty bomb" is in the final stage.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine's deployment of a "dirty bomb" will contaminate several thousand square meters of terrain if used. "The detonation of a radiological explosive device will inevitably lead to radioactive contamination of the area of up to several thousand square meters,” Kirillov told reporters.
According to the official, Kiev has a reason for using the "dirty bomb," as well as the scientific, technological, and production capabilities to create it.
Reports about Kiev preparing to use a dirty bomb in Ukraine to blame Russia for using nuclear weapons have been circulating for about a month now.
