Russian President Vladimir Putin asked DPRK's Foreign Minister, Choe Son Hui, on Monday to inform leader Kim Jong Un that "everything is going according to plan," signaling the continued bilateral coordination that is contributing to the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
Putin affirmed that bilateral relations are developing as planned, stating, "We (Putin and Kim) held a detailed discussion in Beijing about our relations and their prospects, in the best possible way."
The meeting between Putin and Choe comes as cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang continues to grow across various sectors, including defense and energy.
Earlier this month, Kim had affirmed that "the friendly relations between his country and Russia have reached their highest level in history," stressing that "the comradely bond between the two peoples will continue its steady development."
In June 2024, Putin and Kim signed a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty, following an official visit by Putin to Pyongyang.
Kim Jong Un hails the brotherly ties between Russia, DPRK
On October 24, the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, declared that the "militant fraternity" between his country and Russia would "advance non-stop."
According to a report from the DPRK's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim made these remarks while attending a groundbreaking ceremony for a memorial that will honor DPRK soldiers who fought alongside Russian forces in the Kursk region to repel an incursion by Ukrainian forces.
Kim stated that "the years of militant fraternity, in which a guarantee has been provided for the long-term development of the bilateral friendship at the cost of precious blood, will advance non-stop," adding that attempts by "domination and tyranny" would not succeed in obstructing the two nations' growing partnership.
This ceremony served as the latest public display of Pyongyang's military support for Moscow, following the signing of a mutual defense pact between Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year.
Under this agreement, the DPRK has reportedly supplied Russia with artillery shells, missiles, and military personnel, with both Kiev and Seoul estimating that Pyongyang has deployed more than 10,000 troops to support Russian forces in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
