Putin, Zelensky agree to take part in G20 summit: Indonesian diplomat
The Ambassador of Indonesia to the UAE confirmed that both leaders will be present at the upcoming G20 summit that will be held in Bali in November.
Indonesian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Husin Bagis said on Friday that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky agreed to participate in the upcoming G20 summit in Bali.
"Both have agreed [to participate in the summit]," Bagis told The National newspaper.
Back in September, Putin told reporters that he has been invited to the G20 summit in Indonesia and added, "We will see how the situation will develop in the economy and in other areas."
From November 15-16, Indonesia will host the G20, a multilateral platform that unites developed and emerging economies with the aim of facilitating global economic growth and prosperity.
The event promises to be highly intense since Chinese leader Xi Jinping also confirmed in August that he will attend the summit.
Since China has begun to be more vocal on the Ukraine war, it is likely that Russia will secure more support to stand up to the West's attacks.
Both Russia and China have recently endured an avalanche of sanctions and punishing economic measures due to their continued defiance against NATO and its ambitions of establishing a unipolar world.
In the last G20 Summit that took place among foreign ministers, Russia was cornered by all sides from the West and prompted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to walk out of the talks after Russia got accused of triggering a global hunger crisis.
Lavrov slammed the West's "frenzied" condemnation of the Ukraine war at the G20 conference on July 8, accusing Russia's adversaries of sabotaging a chance to address global economic challenges.
Things are expected to take a different turn as all leaders, including Joe Biden, will be present at the summit.
