Raisi congratulates Ortega: Nicaragua will defeat the US threat
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulates Nicaraguan Daniel Ortega on his re-election in a phone call.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulated Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega on Thursday on his re-election.
Raisi said that the tyrannical regime [US] cannot impose its dictations on the Islamic Republic and Nicaragua because the two countries are supported by their people.
Iran, according to Raisi, is reassured that Nicaragua will "triumph over the threat and sanctions of the US," considering that America is in a state of decline and becoming weaker with the passing of every day.
The two presidents also emphasized the importance of strengthening and developing bilateral relations, as well as increasing international cooperation in order to achieve global peace and stability.
On his account, Ortega expressed to Raisi that his country supports Iran's right to nuclear negotiations in Vienna.
Biden 'hysterical' over Nicaragua election
On November 8, Nicaraguans voted for a new president and legislature for the next five years. Simultaneously, the ruling Sandinista National Liberation Front confirmed longtime President Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, as candidates and running mates.
US President Joe Biden slammed the Nicaraguan presidential election and described it as a "sham".
In a White House statement, Biden claimed that "what Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, orchestrated today was a pantomime election that was neither free nor fair, and most certainly not democratic."
