Raisi to al-Miqdad: To strengthen Iran-Syria economic cooperation
During a meeting in Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized Syria's role in the region, and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad conveyed a written message of appreciation to Raisi from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi described Monday the bilateral relations between Iran and Syria as "strategic", and stressed strengthening the already strong foundations of the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in economy and trade.
During his meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad, Raisi highlighted that "there are many capacities to increase the volume and amount of economic exchanges between the two countries, by activating which, the volume of economic exchanges can be increased several times."
The Iranian president said that ISIS is a US product and considered that the continuous illegal presence of foreign parties in Syria and the region threatens security and stability.
Emphasizing the importance of its role in the region, Raisi pointed out that "today, Syria is at the forefront of resistance against the Zionists with its anti-Zionist approach and the history of the resistance of Syrian people and government against cowardly aggression will be proudly recorded."
For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad conveyed a written message to Raisi from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad saying, "Syria is determined to activate all capacities for cooperation with the aim of growing Tehran-Damascus relations in the interest of the two nations."
Al-Assad's message added that "the Syrian people will never forget the support and assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran," and that "Syria puts a great emphasis on the continuation of the sustainable, powerful relations that the leaders of the two nations have created."
The message concluded that the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, Major General Qassem Soleimani's martyrdom on Syrian land proves the deep bond between the two nations.
Al-Miqdad affirmed that "with the resistance of the Syrian people and the Resistance Front, the conspiracies of the United States, the Zionist Regime and its allies in the region have failed."
It is noteworthy that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi received a Syrian delegation headed by Minister al-Miqdad and his deputy Bashar al-Jaafari, who arrived Sunday in Tehran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and al-Miqdad held a press conference in Tehran, in which they touched on the most prominent files in the region.
