Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced Thursday that his country supports any negotiations that achieve the interests of the Iranian people.
Giving a speech in front of the ambassadors of foreign countries and delegates of international organizations, Raisi said that Iran never responds to the policy of threat, noting that the current US government does not practically differ from the previous one.
Stressing that his country has never left the Vienna talks, Raisi considered that sending a comprehensive delegation to the negotiations shows Tehran's desire to reach an agreement.
Region plagued by foreign interference
The Iranian president considered that the current situation is the result of the US reneging on its promises and certain countries failing to abide by their commitments, adding that Iran has previously declared that its nuclear activities are peaceful, and the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed this.
The region is plagued by terrorism, systematic crime, and foreign interference, Raisi underlined.
He also stressed that it is not possible to obtain sustainable security and stability without cooperation between the countries of the region, pointing out that the assassination of martyr General Qassem Soleimani is the most prominent and clear example of terrorism.
Priority to peace in Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan
Restoring peace to Syria and Yemen and forming a comprehensive government in Afghanistan is one of the Islamic Republic's priorities, noted the Iranian president, affirming that the normalization of relations between Arab countries and the Israeli occupation cannot change the current situation.
Raisi indicated that the "deal of the century" is directed against Palestine, and aims to ignore the rights of the Palestinians.
Marandi: West, especially the US, are hindering the progress
Earlier, the Iranian president had confirmed that Tehran had shown its seriousness in the Vienna negotiations, and reiterated that the Islamic Republic's priority was to abolition the unlawful US sanctions imposed on Iranians.
For his part, the Iranian delegation adviser to the Vienna talks, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, told Al Mayadeen on Wednesday that there is tangible progress in the talks, but "the West, especially the United States, are hindering the progress."
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed his optimism last month in regard to the Vienna talks, saying that "We're arriving at the end of a long process."
