Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Al-Maliki said as quoted by Sputnik that the Palestinian Authority will convene a national reconciliation meeting in Ramallah, occupied West Bank, to reconcile the Fatah and Hamas factions.

"President Mahmoud Abbas and the leadership have decided to start the preparation for a national reconciliation meeting, inviting all factions to such a meeting here in Ramallah," Al-Maliki stated in an interview with Sputnik, stressing it could happen "in the near future."

In the wake of the rise in Israeli violence against Palestinians, which is led by an Israeli extreme right-wing Government, the minister stated that Palestinian reunification was a major priority for the Palestinian Authority.

"I do believe that the events that took place in Jenin and the Israeli escalation all around the West Bank is evidence that we do need to put an end to the division and for Fatah and Hamas to sit together and to join hands to be able to confront the Israeli crimes," Al-Maliki said.

The foreign minister expressed confidence that Hamas will act properly and respond to the appeal.

Palestinian figures from all factions and Resistance groups constantly recalled that dialogue provides an important opportunity for Palestinians to reach an agreement and find a unified position to confront the Israeli ongoing aggression against Palestinians.

This is happening amid a surge in Israeli barbarism against Palestinians and following brutal raid on Jenin camp, which left ten martyred and dozens of others injured. Although the IOF’s shoot-to-kill policy was already flexible and frequently resulted in the killings of Palestinians without justification or proportionality, the new occupation government and its "shuffling cards" policy made pulling the trigger easier for the Israeli soldiers, shielding them from any accountability.
