Ready to defend land; priority to stop IOF aggression: Lebanese army
The Lebanese army emphasizes that it will remain steadfast, driven by the determination, faith, and will of its soldiers, as well as the unity of the Lebanese people.
The Lebanese Army has stated that its primary focus amid the ongoing Israeli aggression is to protect the military establishment, maintain its cohesion, stop the aggression, support the citizens, address the displacement crisis, and continue rescue operations in coordination with relevant agencies—all while preserving civil peace and internal stability.
This statement was issued in response to certain media outlets launching campaigns of slander, defamation, and accusations of treason against the military institution and its leadership to serve narrow interests and political agendas.
Furthermore, it emphasized that the army is the backbone of Lebanon and a guarantee for all Lebanese citizens, underscoring the importance of public solidarity with it. The army expressed hope for the success of international efforts to stop the Israeli aggression as soon as possible.
Lebanese army emphasizes readiness and national unity
The Lebanese Army stated that it is "deployed across the entire country, including the southern borders, fulfilling its national responsibilities while offering sacrifices and maintaining readiness to defend the land within available resources."
This commitment is based on directives from the political authority to act as deemed appropriate for the protection of Lebanon and the military establishment, in accordance with Resolution 1701 and its provisions, and in close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as per the statement.
The army emphasized that it will remain steadfast, driven by the determination, faith, and will of its soldiers, as well as the unity of the Lebanese people.
The statement underscored that the current need is to maintain national unity to preserve Lebanon, which will overcome this crisis just as it has surmounted past challenges.
It is worth noting that the Lebanese Army has repositioned itself in the southern Litani area and continues its operations in various regions, where its forces are engaged in detonating unexploded ordnance left by the Israeli occupation to protect Lebanese citizens.
This comes shortly after the Lebanese Army announced last thursday the martyrdom of one of its soldiers following an Israeli strike on a military post in the city of Bint Jbeil, South Lebanon.
At the time, the Lebanese Army clarified that the soldiers stationed at the post responded to the source of Israeli fire.
Concurrently, the Lebanese Army reported the martyrdom of one of its soldiers and the injury of another due to an Israeli attack. The incident took place during an evacuation and rescue mission, carried out in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross, in the town of al-Taybeh, Marj'youn, in South Lebanon.
In a similar incident, a Lebanese soldiers has died from injuries sustained when an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle near an army checkpoint in the town of Wazzani.
