Resistance forces hail Iraq's decision to criminalize normalization
Hezbollah and the PFLP issue statements praising the Council of Representatives of Iraq's decision to criminalize normalization with the Israeli occupation.
Lebanese Hezbollah considered on Friday that the Iraqi parliament's decision to criminalize normalization with the Israeli occupation is a historic decision to confront the humiliating process of normalization carried out by some Arab countries and a solid position in support of the Palestinian people.
In a statement, Hezbollah indicated that this honorable and courageous stance clearly expresses the true Iraqi people, as well as their religious authority and political forces.
The statement added that this decision confirms Iraq's firm and permanent position alongside the Palestinian cause, which was not affected by either the US occupation or the difficult economic and political conditions that the country has experienced in recent years.
Hezbollah called on political parties and the masses of the Arab nation to make maximum use of the Iraqi example in its content and timing.
In the same context, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) considered that the Iraqi Parliament’s decision to criminalize normalization proves Iraq’s definitive position rejecting normalization with the Israeli occupation.
The PFLP called on all Arab parliaments to follow Iraq's lead by passing similar laws prohibiting normalization with "Israel".
On Thursday, The Council of Representatives of Iraq voted unanimously on a law criminalizing normalization with the Israeli occupation.
The law was passed by deputies chanting slogans refuting all forms of normalization with "Israel".
The House of Representatives convened, with 275 deputies present, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the House, Mohammed Halbusi, to vote on the proposed articles of the law prohibiting normalization and engagement with "Israel".
This comes after the first reading of the Iraqi House of Representatives, on 12 May, approved a bill prohibiting normalization and engagement with "Israel".
The act aims to preserve Iraq's “national, Islamic and humanitarian principles, given the danger of normalization with the occupied Zionist entity.”
The house, added in its statement that the act also aims to prohibit any and all cooperation, collaboration, or sympathizing with “Israel” maintaining a unified front supporting the Palestinian cause.
