A Palestinian Resistance leader confirmed to Al Mayadeen on Monday that discussions are currently underway between mediators and "Israel" to address the issue of releasing Palestinian prisoners.
The Resistance leader revealed that "Israel" is demanding that the bodies of four captives be returned without a handover ceremony or video coverage.
Meanwhile, Hamas is insisting on the release of Palestinian detainees, who were supposed to be freed last Saturday, before any Israeli captive bodies are handed over.
On Saturday, Axios reported that Israeli officials stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu postponed the release of 600 Palestinians on Saturday, despite recommendations from security service heads to proceed with the release.
The website indicated that the security services leaders recommended that Netanyahu make every effort to complete the second phase negotiations or extend the first phase negotiations.
In response, Hamas accused "Israel" of violating the Gaza ceasefire agreement by delaying the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, who were due to be freed the same day, in exchange for six Israeli captives.
In a statement, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif Al-Qanou stated, "The [Israeli] occupation's failure to comply with the release of the seventh batch of prisoners in the exchange deal at the agreed-upon time constitutes a blatant violation of the agreement."
He further accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of "procrastination and stalling tactics".
