The international community’s failure to pursue a just solution to the Palestinian cause was the primary trigger for the recent aggression against Iran, pointed out Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy.
Speaking before the UN Security Council, Polyanskiy warned that the war involved a nuclear-armed entity that is not a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), in reference to "Israel".
Russia: 'Israel' committing ethnic cleansing
The Russian diplomat accused the Israeli occupation of committing ethnic cleansing, emphasizing that Tel Aviv has no regard for international law.
He also cautioned that “the use of food as a weapon against Palestinian civilians” may amount to war crimes that warrant international accountability.
Polyanskiy reiterated Russia’s call for holding the long-delayed international peace conference.
In early June, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the United States for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution that called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the removal of restrictions on aid deliveries.
“Another chance to stop the horrific bloodshed and famine in Gaza, which killed about 55,000 people and left 125,000 injured Palestinians, turned out to be missed,” it said in a statement.
China: 'Israel' violating international law, killing aid seekers
China’s UN envoy Fu Cong echoed strong criticism, saying “the Palestinian tragedy has shaken the conscience of humanity,” and accused “Israel” of breaching international law by targeting civilians waiting to receive humanitarian aid.
Fu called for an immediate end to "Israel's" military operations and urged a return to negotiations to achieve a political solution that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to establish an independent state.
