Russia condemns continued Israeli aggressions on Syria
Russia underscores that the Israeli attacks on Syria are unlawful and harm the Syrian Arab Army's ability to combat terrorism on Syrian soil.
Moscow considers the ongoing Israeli shelling of Syrian territory unacceptable and categorically condemns the actions that violate international law, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Thursday.
"We consider it necessary to emphasize that the ongoing Israeli shelling of the Syrian territory, the violation of the basic rights of international law is categorically unacceptable and inadmissible," she said.
Spokesperson Zakharova underscored that Moscow condemned such irresponsible actions, which "increase the number of military and civilian casualties and pose a real threat of an uncontrolled escalation of tension throughout the region."
She also explained that such aggressions would impact Damascus' efforts to combat terrorism on Syrian soil, as they "lead to a decrease in the military capacity of the Syrian Armed Forces."
She also urged the Israeli occupation to "stop this vicious and dangerous practice", which has been taking place habitually with the continuous violation of Syria's sovereignty.
A Syrian Arab Army military command said four Syrian soldiers had been martyred and three others wounded as a result of Israeli aggression on troop positions near Damascus.
The strikes targeted the area of the international airport in the south of Damascus, and they marked the ninth Israeli aggressive action against Syria since the beginning of this year.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry sent two letters to the UN Secretary-General and the Head of the UN Security Council regarding "Israel's" latest attacks against Syria.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Damascus reserved the right to retaliate against the attacks using appropriate means guaranteed by international law and the UN charter.
