Russia demands US to stop military biological activities near its borders
Russia's Ambassador to the US calls on Washington to stop biological activities in post-Soviet countries.
Anatoly Antonov, Russia's Ambassador to the United States, demanded that Washington immediately stop military biological activities in post-Soviet countries.
The Ambassador dismissed the US' accusations that Russia has violated chemical and biological conventions and asserted that such remarks by the White House reveal US concerns over the disclosure of its own military biological program near Russia's borders.
"We call on the United States to immediately terminate the illegal work in the military biological sphere," Antonov said and further called upon the US to stop blocking international efforts to "boost the Biological Weapons Convention regime."
He also added that now is the time for the US to hasten the destruction of its own stockpiles of chemical weapons and reminded that the US is the only country that is a party to the Chemical Weapons Convention that has not yet "fulfilled its international obligations yet."
US funding biological labs in Ukraine
Igor Kirillov, the head of the radiation, chemical, and biological defense of the Russian armed forces, reported that Russian forces found 30 biological laboratories in Ukraine, possibly used to develop biological weapons.
"The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly drawn attention to the military biological programs that are being implemented by the Pentagon in post-Soviet countries, including on the territory of Ukraine, where a network of more than 30 biological laboratories has been formed, which can be divided into research and sanitary-epidemiological ones," Kirillov said.
The client is Pentagon's Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), in conjunction with a company affiliated with the military department, namely Black and Veatch, which is involved with implementing the projects, according to Kirillov.
Russian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov revealed, on Sunday, that Kiev was urgently covering up traces of a military biological program carried out in Ukraine and funded by the Pentagon.
Konashenkov told reporters that "during the special military operation, [Russia] revealed the facts of an urgent sweep by the Kiev regime of traces of a military biological program being implemented in Ukraine, financed by the US Defense Ministry.”
