Russia Deputy FM meets Lebanese ex PM, discuss regional developments
Russian Deputy FM Sergey Vershinin met with Saad Hariri’s representative to discuss Russia-Lebanon relations, the Palestinian-"Israeli" conflict, and regional stability.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin met with George Shaaban, the personal representative of former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, to discuss political developments in Lebanon and the broader region, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting, held in Moscow, included a “detailed exchange of views” on the situation in Lebanon and the importance of ensuring the “stable and effective functioning” of Lebanese public institutions with participation from leading socio-political forces.
In addition to the internal Lebanese political landscape, the two sides addressed the ongoing developments in Palestine, as "Israel" continues its war against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Russian side expressed concern about the escalating situation and emphasized the need for stability and dialogue across the region.

Moscow reaffirms support for Lebanese sovereignty
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow reaffirmed its “principled position” in support of Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The ministry also stressed Russia’s commitment to further strengthening Russia-Lebanon relations, which it described as traditionally friendly.
The meeting comes amid ongoing instability in Lebanon and heightened tensions in the region as the war on Gaza continues to shape diplomatic alignments across the Middle East.
