Russia destroys oil depot supplying Ukrainian forces in Kharkov: MoD
Russia destroys a Ukrainian oil depot that Kiev is using to supply its forces' vehicles with fuel.
The Russian forces destroyed Sunday an oil depot in the Kharkov region that has been supplying Ukrainian military vehicles in Kupyansk, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"An oil depot supplying fuel to military vehicles of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kupyansk area has been destroyed near the settlement of Shevchenkove in the Kharkiv Region," the ministry said.
Russia announced back in September that its forces were withdrawing from the Kharkov region that lies on the eastern front after the army had the region under its control for months.
"To achieve the goals of the special military operation to liberate Donbas, a decision was made to regroup Russian troops stationed in the Balakliya and Izyum regions, to bolster efforts along the Donetsk front," the Russian ministry of defense said in a statement at the time.
The withdrawal from Kharkov to Donetsk, Moscow explained, was carried out over the course of a three-day operation conducted to minimize Russian losses. However, the leader of the Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, said there was fierce fighting between the Russian and Ukrainian forces in the DPR.
Meanwhile, Moscow announced that its forces also destroyed a Ukrainian ammunition depot and artillery armament near Novooleksandrivka, Zaporozhye.
After the Russian withdrawal from the region, Russian sources told Al Mayadeen that "US generals effectively helped with planning for this operation" that the Ukrainian forces waged against Moscow and lead to the subsequent withdrawal. "They offered generous intelligence to the Ukrainian army among whose ranks thousands of mercenaries are fighting," the sources added.
