Russia makes gains in Donetsk, inflict heavy losses on Ukrainian army
Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces have suffered significant casualties across multiple fronts.
The Tsentr (Center) grouping of Russian forces has taken control of the settlement of Lozuvatske in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.
"The units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, through active actions, liberated the settlement of Lozuvatskoe in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry stated in its daily bulletin.
This comes as over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces have suffered significant casualties across multiple fronts.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine lost up to 570 soldiers in battles with the Zapad (West) group of forces.
The Yug (South) group of forces achieved more advantageous positions and frontiers, resulting in the loss of up to 540 Ukrainian servicepeople.
Moreover, the Sever (North) group of forces repelled two counterattacks, causing up to 165 Ukrainian casualties.

Further losses were inflicted by the Vostok (East) group of forces, which saw up to 125 Ukrainian soldiers killed, and the Dnepr group of forces, with up to 85 casualties.
The Tsentr group repelled three counterattacks, leading to the loss of up to 425 Ukrainian servicepeople.
The Russian armed forces also targeted two electronic warfare stations, an aviation munitions warehouse, and an ammunition depot.
Damage was inflicted on Ukrainian forces in 124 areas, the ministry reported.

In addition to the battlefield losses, 17 Ukrainian service members from the 35th separate naval brigade surrendered in the Kherson region.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, these soldiers voluntarily surrendered due to poor planning, lack of supplies, and the command's refusal to evacuate the unit.
