Russia will safeguard its security and national interests across all ocean regions worldwide, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, vowing that Russia will move ahead with plans to modernize its Navy.
Speaking at the flag-raising ceremony on the nuclear-powered missile submarine Knyaz Pozharsky, today, Thursday, Putin said, "We will definitely and fully implement our plans to create a modern Navy, ensure Russia's security and our national interests in all areas of the world ocean. There can be no doubt about this."
In detail, Putin announced that "in total, more than 70 ships are in various stages of readiness at the Russian shipyards. So, only here, at Sevmash, it is planned to build six new nuclear submarines by 2030."
Vowing to reinforce the Russian naval nuclear forces amid continued modernization of Russia's strategic deterrent capabilities, the Russian president stated, "In the coming years, four additional Borei-A submarines will be added to our naval nuclear forces, as planned. Two of them are under construction. These latest-generation strategic submarines are equipped with Bulava ballistic missiles and other advanced weaponry."
He added that nine non-nuclear Project 667 submarines are scheduled to be built in the near future.
Promising developments: Underwater marine, multifunctional, robotic complexes
Putin also stressed the critical need to maintain serial production of Yasen-M-class nuclear-powered submarines, underscoring their role in strengthening Russia's naval capabilities.
Russia's president emphasized that this consistent and methodical approach would strengthen the economic stability of both the industry's enterprises and their supply chain partners, a crucial factor in attracting skilled professionals and driving innovation in advanced technological solutions.
"The last thing I would like to discuss is the promising developments in the field of underwater marine, multifunctional, robotic complexes. It is obvious that this environment will largely determine the future of the Navy. Therefore, the most important task is to ensure our primacy in this area," Putin asserted.
