Russia thwarts Ukrainian drone attack on Belgorod region
Russia's Defense Ministry says that one attack UAV was downed using air defense systems.
Russian air defenses downed a Ukrainian armed drone over the Belgorod region on Thursday morning without causing any casualties or damage, Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Today, at about 9:00 Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle on objects in Russia was thwarted. By means of air defense, a Ukrainian strike UAV was detected and destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region," the statement read.

The Ukrainian army has become overreliant on the use of long-range missiles and attack drones, as its counteroffensive is proving to be a failed mission, with Moscow being the most sensitive location attacked, while Crimea is currently the most targeted.
Last week, Russian air defense systems thwarted a Ukrainian aerial attack on Crimea composed of 20 attack drones, with 14 destroyed by missiles and six disabled by electronic jamming systems.
The Washington Post reported earlier this month that Ukraine's estimated drone losses are around 10,000 units per month. Ukrainian authorities claim that the losses are much less, saying that the figure is closer to 1,000 drones per month.
The newspaper cited a UK-based think tank, the Royal United Services Institute, which gave the estimate, contradicting Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who told the WP that Russian forces are bringing down only 1,000 drones a month.
