A high-level Russian-US meeting is set to take place within the next two weeks, where officials will discuss addressing "irritants" in bilateral relations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said as quoted by RIA Novosti.
"There is a principal agreement to hold relevant comprehensive consultations for the systematic and detailed development of the entire block of so-called irritants," Ryabkov stressed.
He added that Russia is awaiting confirmation of the US representatives who will participate at this level.
"Our readiness to launch this work as quickly as possible has been confirmed to the Americans," the top Russian official noted.
Driving the news
The top Russian figure indicated that a preliminary meeting between the directors of the relevant departments is scheduled to take place within the next two weeks before the deputy-level discussions begin.
The meeting will be held in a third country, with the exact location still under discussion.
"We conveyed elements of our approach to these issues back in Riyadh. The Americans are currently considering them," Ryabkov explained.
He also indicated that Russia may provide written details of its proposals for clarity, stating, "We will further specify them, including, if necessary, providing them with individual parameters of our proposals in a written form for ease of processing."
These developments follow phone calls between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump and between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Zelensky, aimed at ending the war which has been ongoing for three years.
Ukraine was not invited to these talks, nor were European leaders, prompting concerns from Europe regarding Washington's disregard for their security concerns, especially following recent talks between Trump and Putin.
