Russia: Around 14,000 Ukrainian troops killed since start of operation
A rare update from Russia about its casualties since the beginning of its military operation in Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced Friday the casualties that Russia suffered since the start of its special military operation in Ukraine.
According to the Mnistry, more than 1,300 servicemen have been killed and nearly 4,000 injured.
“Unfortunately, during the special military operation, there have been losses among our comrades-in-arms. To date, 1,351 servicemen have died and 3,825 have been injured,” the deputy head of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy confirmed.
Ukraine sustained heavy casualties
According to Rudskoy, Ukraine has sustained heavy casualties - around 30,000 - till now, as around 14,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed and 16,000 have been injured.
The Colonel-General underscored that nearly 1,600 Ukrainian tanks and other armored vehicles were destroyed by the Russian military, adding that the Russian military has largely destroyed Kiev’s air and anti-aircraft forces.
Russian figures differ drastically from Ukrainian
RT pointed out that the casualties presented by the Russian military "differ drastically from the estimates from the Ukrainian side."
Kiev claims that "around 16,000 Russian soldiers have been killed, with hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces destroyed," mentioned RT.
It is noteworthy that the latest update on Kiev's own casualties was presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in mid-March when he said that "around 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers had died in combat," noted the Russian broadcaster.
