Russian FM meets FMs of Turkey, Iran, Lebanon to discuss the ME
Russia's Foreign Ministry says the meeting was held yesterday in New York before the UNSC meeting.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated today that its Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, met with his Iranian, Turkish, and Lebanese counterparts on Monday in New York to discuss the Middle East before the United Nations Security Council meeting.
The meeting between the four ministers mainly focused on discussing the Israeli war on Gaza, aggressions on Syria, and the "tense situation" in the Red Sea triggered by the US-UK aggression on Yemen and amid the operations by the Yemeni Armed Forces.
Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian both urged for a ceasefire in Gaza and solutions that would make aid accessible to Palestinians, according to the Ministry.
It added that Lavrov and Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib discussed the importance of countries in the region to work on a ceasefire across the region as "Israel" has been continuously targeting and bombing South of Lebanon and other areas.
As for Lavrov's discussion with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, it mostly focused on energy issues and "upcoming bilateral contacts."
