Russian forces claim Zheltoye, repel multiple Ukrainian counterattacks
The Russian Defense Ministry reports the liberation of Zheltoye, alongside significant Ukrainian losses, including over 1,350 casualties and military equipment destroyed, following multiple counterattacks repelled by Russian battlegroups.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of the Battlegroup Tsentr have claimed the settlement of Zheltoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.
The ministry confirmed that the takeover followed a series of offensives by the Russian forces. Additionally, the Battlegroup Tsentr repelled eight Ukrainian counterattacks in the past 24 hours, resulting in significant losses for Ukraine. According to the ministry, over 575 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and Ukrainian forces also lost a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier, two vehicles, a 152-mm D-20 cannon, and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine suffered up to 250 casualties in clashes with Russia's Battlegroup Yug, which successfully repelled two Ukrainian attacks over the past 24 hours. Additionally, Russia's Zapad (West) group of forces thwarted 14 Ukrainian counterattacks, resulting in the loss of up to 530 Ukrainian soldiers.
Russia claims other gains in Donetsk, reports 1,565 Ukrainian losses
The Russian Defense Ministry, earlier this month, announced significant territorial gains and reported substantial losses inflicted on Ukrainian forces in ongoing operations in the Donetsk People's Republic and other conflict zones.
According to the ministry, Russian troops from the South and Center military groups successfully captured the settlements of Ilyinka (Illinka) and Petrovka (Petrivka), consolidating their presence in the contested region.
The ministry stated in an official release that "Units of the southern group of forces liberated the settlement of Ilyinka," while the Center battlegroup was credited with the capture of Petrovka. These advances mark continued efforts by Russian forces to secure strategic positions in eastern Ukraine.
