Russian Foreign Ministry summons UK Ambassador over latest sanctions
It goes without saying that Moscow will continue to respond to all sanctions “harshly and decisively."
The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned UK Ambassador in Moscow Deborah Bronnert on Friday to protest London’s latest sanctions, including against All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK).
The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday it had summoned Deborah Bronnert, Britain's Ambassador to Russia, and strongly protested in relation to new UK sanctions on Russian media.
The Ministry said in a statement Russia would continue to react "harshly and decisively" to all sanctions imposed by London.
"On May 6, UK Ambassador in Moscow Deborah Bronnert was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. She was informed about a strong protest in connection with the adoption by London of another package of anti-Russian sanctions, which included a number of leading media outlets of our country, including VGTRK," the Ministry said in a statement.
Britain imposed sanctions on individual journalists and media organizations earlier in May in its latest wave of draconian sanctions designed to increase pressure on Moscow to stop its special military operation in Ukraine.
