Russian FSB crew killed in Mi-8 helicopter crash
A Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Russian FSB crashes, killing its crew members in the Chelyabinsk Region of Russia.
An Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Federal Security Service (FSB) crashed in Russia's Chelyabinsk Region, according to a statement by Governor Alexey Texler on Tuesday.
Emergency services revealed, earlier in the day, that the helicopter had crashed in the Sosnovsky district of the Chelyabinsk Region, adding that preliminary information revealed that the incident claimed the lives of three crew members.
"The Mi-8 helicopter crashed near Krasnoe Pole [village], the Sosnovsky district of the Chelyabinsk Region. The helicopter belonged to the FSB squadron. Residents and residential buildings were not damaged," said the Governor via his Telegram channel.
The emergency department then announced that after its emergency services arrived at the scene later in the day, the Mi-8 helicopter was found burning in a forest area. The fire was extinguished, and the bodies of three people were found.
Moreover, it was announced that there were no casualties among the civilians nor was there any material damage in the surrounding village.
On August 23, Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that a private plane on its way from Moscow to St. Petersburg crashed in the Tver Region on Wednesday, announcing that the incident killed all 10 people aboard.
Wagner Group private military company (PMC) leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was on board the aircraft, and a missing part of Prigozhin's finger on his left hand, an injury he suffered during his time at a penal colony decades ago, helped identify him.
