Saied to Withdraw Marzouki’s Diplomatic Passport
Saied was annoyed by Marzouki's demands that France ends its support for the Tunisian government.
Tunisia's President Kais Saied announced on Thursday he would withdraw the diplomatic passport of former President Moncef Marzouki, who had called on France to end its support for the Tunisian government.
"I will withdraw his diplomatic passport because he is among the enemies of Tunisia," Saied said, referring to Marzouki.
Saied urged the Minister of Justice, Laila Jaffal, to open an inquiry into Marzouki's statements, stating that there is no room for conspiracy against the state's internal or external security, according to Reuters.
Marzouki took part in a demonstration in Paris a few days ago, during which he urged French decision-makers not to "endorse a totalitarian system."
