Sanaa Salameh's detention extension 'revenge on Daqqa family': PPC
The Palestinian Prisoners Club denounces the extension of Sana' Salameh’s detention as a continuation of "Israel"'s political arrests and persecution of the family of Walid Daqqa, martyred after 38 years in occupation prisons.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club has condemned the decision by an occupation court in Haifa to extend the detention of activist Sanaa Salameh, the widow of martyr Walid Daqqa, until Tuesday. The organization described the ruling as part of a long-standing campaign of revenge and systematic political repression waged by "Israel" against Walid Daqqa and his family.
Israeli occupation forces on Thursday evening arrested Salameh while she was returning from Ramallah to the Palestinian territories occupied since 1948.
According to the statement, the extension of Salameh’s detention comes amid heightened incitement efforts targeting her. One such instance was a recent call by extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir to strip her of her citizenship and deport her from occupied Palestine.
The Club emphasized that this incitement is part of a broader policy of targeting families of Palestinian martyrs and prisoners.
“Incitement” as a tool of political oppression
The Palestinian Prisoners Club pointed out that "Israel" continues to escalate its persecution of thousands of families of detainees and martyrs. This is carried out through harassment, threats, surveillance, and systematic arrests, often under the pretext of so-called "incitement" against the occupation.
This charge, the Club stated, has become a central mechanism for enforcing further control, enabling policies of censorship, oppression, and political intimidation against the Palestinian population under occupation.
Continued withholding of Walid Daqqa’s body
Sanaa Salameh is the widow of Walid Daqqa, a prominent figure in the Palestinian prisoners' movement, who passed away in April of last year. He had spent 38 years in Israeli prisons, enduring continuous systematic torture, medical neglect, and harsh punitive conditions.
Despite his death, the occupation authorities continue to withhold his body in refrigerated storage, refusing to release it to his family, a move widely criticized by human rights organizations as a violation of basic human dignity.

Condemning 'Israel’s' escalating persecution
The Palestinian Prisoners Club reaffirmed that Sana' Salameh’s detention is part of a broader context of "Israel's" political arrests and repression. The organization warned of the intensifying campaign targeting activists, liberated prisoners, and families of martyrs, describing it as an entrenched policy of revenge and control.
Through this latest act, "Israel" reinforces its pattern of criminalizing Palestinian resistance and silencing voices tied to historical and political struggles. The Prisoners Club called for immediate international intervention to hold "Israel" accountable and to end its escalating violations against the Palestinian people and their families.
