Sanders prepares resolutions to block $20bln in arms sales to 'Israel'
US Senator Bernie Sanders confirms that 60% of the martyrs of the Israeli war on Gaza are "women and children," noting that 90% of the population of Gaza "were displaced due to the war."
Sen. Bernie Sanders is drafting several resolutions aimed at halting over $20 billion in US arms sales to "Israel". Although this effort is seen as a long shot, it represents the most significant Congressional challenge yet to the devastation in Gaza as the first anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza.
In a letter to his Senate colleagues on Wednesday, Sanders stated that the US should not be “complicit in this humanitarian disaster.” This initiative would lead to a vote on blocking arms sales to "Israel", although passing such a measure is unlikely due to the current majority.
“Much of this carnage in Gaza has been carried out with US-provided military equipment,” Sanders, I-Vt., wrote.

Although it’s uncertain whether the politically divided Senate will pass the measures, the intent is to signal to the Netanyahu regime that its war effort is weakening the US' traditional bipartisan support for "Israel". Sanders mentioned that he is collaborating with other colleagues on these resolutions.
Sanders' resolutions aim to block the sale of missile systems, tank rounds, and other weaponry—some of which have been identified as contributing to severe destruction in Gaza—as well as new fighter jets.
This comes after an earlier statement this week where Sanders called on the United States to cease funding Netanyahu's ongoing war.
"This week: 19 people killed & scores injured in a strike in a 'humanitarian zone' in Gaza," Sanders wrote on X. "An American shot in the head in the West Bank. Now, another school bombed, killing 14 people, including 6 UN aid workers."
