The Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, warned the United States on Wednesday against engaging militarily in support of the Israeli occupation’s war on Iran, threatening that such a move would "bring forth repercussions they could never mend."
"The Americans should know that any military intervention will have irreparable consequences for them," Sayyed Khamenei said, adding that "the US knows that intervention in Israeli aggression on Iran will leave them damaged far more than they could do to Iran."
He described US involvement as a clear indication of the Israeli occupation’s strategic weakness, saying, "The United States’ involvement in the aggression alongside the Israeli entity is an indication of the entity's weakness."
Sayyed Khamenei firmly stated that "the Americans must know that the Iranian people will not surrender or submit to dictates and threats," emphasizing Iran’s policy of reciprocal defense: "War will be met with war, bombardment with bombardment, strikes with strikes."
He condemned the Israeli occupation's actions, which he described as a "grave mistake" that will be punished. Additionally, Sayyed Khamenei emphasized that Tehran had anticipated US involvement long before the current escalation began, saying, "We had anticipated in advance that the United States would intervene alongside the Israeli aggression, and this is becoming clearer day after day."
National unity and resilience
The Iranian leader emphasized that Iran's history is a testament that the Iranian people can't be threatened and will never surrender, while praising the people's resilience and awareness, "The unity among all components of the Iranian people reflects maturity and awareness."
He stressed that the Iranian people will "stand tall, strong against any imposed peace just as it once did against the imposed war," noting that the current Israeli aggression has only strengthened national solidarity.
"The brave Iranian people's steadfastness in the face of the malicious Israeli aggression reflects our people's awareness and rational logic."
In a message addressing the public, Sayyed Khamenei called on the people to continue their lives and work normally, while pledging that Tehran would not allow the Israeli occupation to escape justice:
"We will not allow the occupation to escape unharmed from the great crime it committed by launching the aggression...Life will become bitter for them."
US Congress moves to block Trump from launching war
It is worth noting that earlier today, US Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna introduced a War Powers Resolution that would bar the United States Armed Forces from engaging in hostilities against the Islamic Republic of Iran without Congressional approval.
As reported by The Intercept, the move mirrors similar legislation introduced in the Senate a day earlier by Senator Tim Kaine, amid growing alarm over the Israeli occupation's attacks on Iran, Tehran's retaliation, and Trump’s intensifying threats toward Tehran.
“The United States must not get dragged into another war in the Middle East without a full debate and vote in Congress,” Rep. Khanna told The Intercept, calling the potential for unauthorized involvement in “Israel’s” war on Iran a red line.
He emphasized the need to end the confrontation diplomatically and criticized Trump for circumventing established constitutional processes.
The War Powers Resolution of 1973 was intended to curtail the president’s unilateral authority to deploy troops without Congressional approval. However, presidents across administrations have repeatedly sidestepped the law. Massie noted that the House resolution is “privileged” and could be brought to the floor for debate and a vote within 15 days, as reported by The Intercept.
