Scientists for peace launch campaign for ceasefire in Gaza
The peace launch campaign has been signed by 20 different countries and tens of scholars from different fields of research.
Switzerland-based platform, Scientists for Peace, is a community of scholars and researchers intended to build a scientific community for the sake of peace.
The platform was coordinated by Dr. Asma Mechakra, Scientific researcher, Balgrist/ETH in Switzerland, and Dr. Zachary Foster, Senior Research Fellow, Rutgers Center for Security, Race and Rights in the US.
On its official website, it states that it was "Founded on the belief that scientific knowledge and collaboration can be powerful catalysts for positive change, our community brings together individuals from diverse fields to address pressing issues affecting humanity."
Mechakra has stated that the war on Gaza was the reason behind the initiative under its first campaign: "Never again for everyone!” It calls for the end of the illegal occupation and colonization of Palestine and calls for an immediate ceasefire and a lift of the blockade.
Part 1: According to the latest UNRWA report, only 35 trucks entered the Gaza Strip, a significantly inadequate number compared to the essential daily requirement of 500 trucks. The situation is alarming, especially in the north of Gaza. Support our call: https://t.co/OFTpvOaTlD
