SDF continue attacks, storming and besieging towns in Deir Ezzor
Despite Russia's renewed efforts to restart mediation between the SDF and the Syrian Army to end tensions in Qamishli and al-Hasakah, the US-backed SDF storm towns in Deir Ezzor.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stormed the northern town of al-Sabha, east of Deir Ezzor, turning the town's school into a headquarters for its artillery.
The militants also besieged the cities of al-Junaina and al-Hisan in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, under the pretext of searching for wanted persons.
It is worth noting that Al Mayadeen's sources confirmed on Monday that Russia has renewed its mediation attempts between the US-backed SDF and the Syrian Arab Army in the city of Hasakah, aiming to end the military escalations launched by the SDF in recent days.
The sources added that a Russian delegation arrived in the city of al-Hasakah to discuss a mechanism to lift the ongoing six-day siege imposed by the SDF on citizens of al-Hasakah and Qamishli in northeastern Syria, during which they banned the entry of water, fuel, flour, medicine, and food into the enclaves in al-Hasakah and Qamishli, while also restricting on the movement of civilians in the areas.
A few days ago, on August 10, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the Syrian tribal forces had launched attacks on positions held by the SDF—which have acted as US proxies throughout the war on Syria—in the town of al-Busayra and the village of al-Hawaij, both located in eastern Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria.
Concurrently, the SDF intensified its military operations by targeting the town of Diblan in eastern Deir Ezzor with artillery fire. Additionally, they established mortar positions in Huwayjat al-Busayra, directly opposite Syrian Army positions across the Euphrates River.
The escalation has led to a significant displacement of residents from Huwayjat al-Busayra and neighboring areas, including Wadi, Drenj, al-Tayyana, Diban, and al-Hawaij. The arrival of SDF reinforcements and the deployment of snipers have exacerbated the situation.
