SDF tightens its siege on al-Hasakah, denies people bread
The SDF continues, for the fifth day in a row, to tighten its siege on the people of al-Hasakah and Qamishli.
The Syrian Democratic Forces group, known as SDF, tightened its siege on neighborhoods under the control of the Syrian army in the cities of Qamishli and al-Hasakah, erecting concrete barriers and blocking the road between the cities and the airport.
They also proceeded to block the movement of Syrian Army soldiers between al-Hasakah and Qamishli, creating tension between both sides in the governorates.
The SDF has also prevented people from access to flour and fuel, meaning that people will not be able to produce bread in al-Hasakah, and that territory controlled by the Syrian Army will be deprived of electricity.
The SDF accuses the Syrian government of tightening its hold on some neighborhoods in Aleppo, and of preventing flour, fuel, and food items from entering, which Syrian government forces have denied.
The Governor of al-Hasakah, Major General Ghassan Halim Khalil, told Al Mayadeen Net that the SDF militia is surrounding the neighborhoods in al-Hasakah and Qamishli for the 5th consecutive day, causing a humanitarian crisis in securing food and bread for thousands of civilians.
The Governor explained that a number of meetings have taken place in coordination with Russia in order to end the siege, and allow the entry of foodstuff and fuel to these neighborhoods.
Furthermore, he replied to the SDF's accusations regarding the situation in Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, saying that this is simply not true, as the people of Sheikh Maqsoud are leading normal lives, just like people in the rest of Aleppo.
Moreover, there are a number of bakeries operating illegally in Aleppo, which the SDF requested be provided with fuel and flour, in contravention of Syrian law according to the governor, who further expressed hope that Russia's mediation could lead to results that help return things to normal.
