Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin assured there’s plenty more to be revealed about the Biden family’s “revealing” bank records. Johnson raised the alarm, asserting that the media "completely ignored" his 2020 report on the "grifting" family.

The remarks came during a recent interview with Fox News during which Sen. Johnson tackled the latest news emerging from the Biden family bank records that purportedly show they gained money from China.

"... Sen. Grassley and I pretty well laid out the case against the grifting Biden family back in September of 2020 before the election. Our report was completely ignored by the media, just as they ignored the Hunter Biden laptop because they're advocates for the left themselves. And so what we're finding out now is just new pieces of evidence of the grifts that the Biden family have been involved with – the bank records that confirm what the Treasury records showed from Sen. Grassley's and my report," Johnson said.

Hunter Biden comes front and center

The report, based on a year-long investigation by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and Senate Committee on Finance Majority Staff Report, which Johnson and Grassley respectively chaired at the time, accused the President of participating in a long-running plot by his son, Hunter Biden, to profit from his position in public life through fishy international dealings.

It also highlighted Biden's involvement in cases of "rampant corruption, manipulation, and abuse."

In its first summary of the Hunter investigation, the report says there is "mounting evidence from the last two years" that he "received preferential treatment from federal law enforcement who seemed to have turned a blind eye to the potential national security threats presented by his business dealings with Chinese, Russian and other foreign nationals."

It also details how the FBI "colluded" with Facebook in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election to "suppress information" about the scandal-plagued President's son.

Concerns about Hunter's business operations were originally reported to the FBI during Barack Obama's presidency, according to the report, particularly because of his participation on the board of Ukrainian corporation Burisma.

"... our report shows something like a dozen different countries that Hunter Biden, was again peddling the family name, trying to sell influence. But I think, the trying to tap into sovereign wealth funds... is pretty revealing," Johnson said. The Senator later rhetorically asked, "[W]hy would they want to pay into the Biden family coffers and the Biden family grift? Well, it's to gain influence ... [T]he level of compromise of this president, I think, is just jaw-dropping."

Hunter Biden in Ukraine

In 2014, around the time Biden - vice president at the time - was assisting with the Obama administration's foreign policy in Ukraine, Hunter Biden joined the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. However, they did not provide proof that the hiring affected US policies, and they did not hold Joe Biden accountable for any wrongdoing.

For the past two years, Republican lawmakers and their staff have been investigating messages and financial transactions discovered on a laptop once owned by Hunter Biden. They have long talked about sending congressional subpoenas to foreign companies that did business with him, and they recently hired James Mandolfo, a former federal prosecutor, to serve as the Oversight Committee's general counsel and help with the investigation.

In 2022, a Delaware grand jury heard testimony regarding the federal investigation into Hunter Biden's taxes and foreign business dealings. While he never held a position on the presidential campaign or in the White House, his membership on the board of a Ukrainian energy company and his efforts to strike deals in China have long raised questions about whether he traded on his father’s public service.

Democrats blasted the report's conclusions and labeled it a politically driven effort. They claimed that the information was unfounded and disregarded the fact that Hunter Biden had already been the subject of several probes.

The uproar over the charges against the Biden family serves as a spotlight for the ongoing discussion about possible conflicts of interest and corruption in politics. As both sides continue to debate the claims' relevance and credibility, it is obvious that they have already had a tremendous impact on American politics and public opinion.
