Senior IRGC commanders meet with Iranian President-elect Pezeshkian

The President-elect paid tribute to Imam Hussein and acknowledged him as the master of freedom-seekers worldwide.

Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday that senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) convened with Iranian President-Elect Masoud Pezeshkian.

Pezeshkian shared details of the encounter on his X account, expressing his respect and camaraderie with the IRGC members, whom he referred to as his "dear brothers."

During the meeting, Pezeshkian was presented with a flag from the holy shrine of Imam Hussein, a symbolic gift.

He stressed the profound meaning of this gesture, stating that hoisting this flag symbolizes advocacy for justice, loyalty, devotion, and courtesy.

He paid tribute to Imam Hussein and acknowledged him as the master of freedom-seekers worldwide.

Pezeshkian is set to officially become the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with his swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place in the parliament, also known as Majlis, on July 30, 2024.

As per Iranian law, the swearing-in ceremony will occur following the endorsement of the president-elect's mandate by the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

The event will be attended by the head of Iran's Supreme Court, members of the Guardian Council, the judiciary chief, and various other high-ranking state and military officials.

According to Article 121 of the Constitution, the president-elect will swear an oath to utilize all his abilities and competencies in fulfilling the responsibilities he has committed to, concluding with the signing of the affidavit.

Iran's support for Resistance unrelenting: Pezeshkian to S. Nasrallah

On July 8, Pezeshkian sent the leader of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, a message asserting the Islamic Republic's support for the Resistance and the people of the region against the illegitimate Israeli occupation. 

The roots of Iran’s support for the Resistance lie in the basic policies of the regime and the directives of the Leader, and it will continue strongly, Pezeshkian affirmed in his message. 

The Iranian President further said he was certain that the Resistance movements in the region would not allow the Israeli occupation to proceed with its war tactics and aggression against the people of Palestine and those of the region. 

He additionally thanked Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, extending wishes for more success, glory, happiness, and progress for the Lebanese people, as well as divine victory for the Islamic Resistance fighters.
