Larijani arrived in Beirut on Wednesday as part of his first regional tour since assuming his post on August 5, 2025. In his remarks upon arrival, he reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to stand by the Lebanese people “under all circumstances,” highlighting that Iran’s support is rooted in shared history, culture, and strategic partnership.
His visit to Beirut included meetings with senior Lebanese officials, among them the president of the republic, the prime minister, and the speaker of parliament, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Resistance, sovereignty, and regional context
Speaking after a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Larijani praised Lebanon’s steadfast resistance to Israeli occupation, describing it as “an asset for the entire Islamic world.” He stressed that Lebanon should make its own decisions free from foreign interference, reiterating that Tehran does not dictate to its allies.
The Secretary of #Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, said that Iran did not bring any proposal to Lebanon, but rather it was the #US who did so, and that it was "Israel" that violated #Lebanon and its sovereignty.

Beirut is the second stop in Larijani’s regional tour, following Baghdad, where Iran and Iraq signed a joint security memorandum of understanding on border coordination. The visit comes amid heightened tensions in Lebanon over a recent US-backed decision to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025, a move strongly rejected by Hezbollah, Amal, and Iranian officials.
Iranian officials have emphasized that the Resistance Front, of which Hezbollah is an integral part, represents the will and aspirations of the region’s peoples and must be preserved.
