Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was a symbol of resistance, not only in the Islamic world but across the globe, pointed out the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
In an exclusive interview for Al Mayadeen, Sheikh Zakzaky said that for the free people of the world, Sayyed Nasrallah was a symbol of resistance and the liberation of humanity from oppression, particularly in Palestine and occupied al-Quds.
"Even secular and non-religious individuals regarded him as an example to follow," he noted.
He described Sayyed Nasrallah as an "exceptionally wise man of great wisdom whose words penetrated hearts."
Touching on the martyr's funeral procession on Sunday, which he took part in, the Nigerian cleric indicated that the ceremony was unprecedented in Lebanon’s history and a testament to the enduring presence of the Resistance and Sayyed Nasrallah's spirit.
According to Sheikh Zakzaky, the Hezbollah chief's influence was profound, even in Africa, particularly in West Africa and Nigeria.
He recalled that he once had the opportunity to meet with him for about five hours on one occasion and four hours on another, wishing for more time with him.
"I was astonished by his awareness of events. He would ask me about certain matters, and I was amazed at how well-informed he was," Sheikh Zakzaky said, adding that his wisdom was something to draw lessons from.
The cleric highlighted that Sayyed Nasrallah's care extended to all Muslims, not just those in Lebanon.
"He [Sayyed Nasrallah] never forgot the oppressed anywhere, especially in African nations," Sheikh Zakzaky said, adding that Hezbollah's leader maintained strong ties with Resistance movements in Yemen, Bahrain, and various other places.
"He cared for the entire Ummah," he asserted.
Elsewhere, the cleric pledged to follow in the footsteps of Sayyed Nasrallah and carry on his legacy.
