Shiraz: Iran's 'home-grown' reconnaissance vessel
Iran's locally-produced reconnaissance vessel is in the final stages of its construction.
Shiraz, a locally-produced reconnaissance vessel, is in the final stages of its construction, according to the chief of the Army's shipyard in Bandar Abbas.
As per the Army's department of public relations via a commander, “The reconnaissance vessel of the Islamic Republic of Iran, named Shiraz, is the first Iranian naval vessel equipped with a helicopter hangar and a special mast for mounting domestic radars.”
The commander revealed that the ship is equipped with plenty of intelligence-gathering and electronic warfare equipment, continuing that Shiraz has passed tests and is in its final stages of construction. After passing its technical and operational tests, the ship will be ready to use.
New submarines, too
Speaking at a press conference on November 27, 2021, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said his country produces all sorts of military equipment and unveiled that the navy was designing a new heavy submarine, Be'sat.
"[The Navy] is working on securing sea lines," Rear Admiral Irani declared, asserting that his forces were ready to conduct this vital mission in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean to secure the international economy.
In November, Raisi, before heading to a summit for the Economic Cooperation Organization in Turkmenistan, told reporters that "communication with neighboring countries and others across the region is a priority for us," highlighting that "the purpose of the meeting is to evaluate previous measures taken by the organization.
