An office of Israeli military technology firm Elbit Systems in Gothenburg, Sweden, was targeted in a shooting on Thursday, according to media reports, with local police confirming a suspect has been detained.
Elbit is "Israel’s" largest military contractor, which specializes in producing a wide array of military equipment and advanced surveillance technologies used against people in occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
Authorities told AFP that the shooting occurred in the Kalleback district of Gothenburg, but no injuries were reported.
According to the newspaper Aftonbladet, the suspect, identified as under 15 years of age, was arrested.
The police have opened an investigation into "attempted murder" and an "aggravated weapons crime" and dispatched several patrols and a helicopter to the scene, spokesman Fredrik Svedemyr confirmed.
The event follows a series of incidents in Sweden targeting Israeli interests. In early June, police said they had found a "suspected explosive object" outside Elbit Systems' offices.
In February, police found a grenade on the grounds of the Israeli embassy compound, which the ambassador claimed was an attempted attack.
In mid-May, gunshots were fired outside the Israeli embassy, which prompted the Scandinavian country to boost security measures around Israeli interests.
Swedish authorities have also raised concerns about Iran allegedly recruiting gangs to carry out violent acts against Israeli and Jewish interests in the region, a claim Tehran has denied.
Since October 7, 2023, "Israel" has been waging a war on Gaza, so far killing more than 42,000 Palestinians and destroying civilian infrastructure in the Palestinian enclave.
The occupation entity has also waged massive aggression on Lebanon, especially its South and East, as well as the Southern Suburb of the capital Beirut, killing 2,169 people and 10,212 wounding others since last October.
