Sixth batch: 49 patients leave Gaza Strip through Rafah for treatment
The sixth batch of Palestinian patients and wounded individuals has left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah land crossing to seek medical treatment abroad.
The sixth batch of patients and wounded left the Gaza Strip on Friday through the Rafah land crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.
As part of the sixth group approved for treatment abroad, 49 Palestinian patients, wounded individuals, and their companions passed through the Rafah crossing, as part of the first phase of the ceasefire implemented on January 19.
Last week, 50 wounded and sick individuals from the Gaza Strip, accompanied by their companions, traveled through the Rafah crossing on February 1 as part of the first batch to pass since the crossing was fully closed in May 2024.
It is noteworthy that the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian Resistance and the Israeli occupation, effective on January 19, 2025, stipulates the daily travel of 50 patients and wounded individuals through the Rafah crossing.
According to the agreement, the Rafah crossing will operate under the supervision of the European Union Security Mission (EUBAM), alongside Palestinian employees from Gaza who are not affiliated with Hamas.
The day after the fifty were transferred, Israeli forces deployed around one kilometer from the Rafah border crossing and prevented Palestinians from returning to Gaza through the crossing, a Palestinian official told Al Mayadeen on February 2.
The official stated that the Israeli occupation also rejected any presence of what they described as "Hamas-affiliated employees" at the crossing and insisted that no symbols of Palestinian sovereignty, such as the Palestinian flag, be displayed.
