Strong anti-'Israel' sentiment among Jordanians: Poll
60% of Jordanians support Hamas firing rockets at Israeli settlements.
A poll conducted in Jordan by Fikra Forum, a subsidiary of the Washington Institute, shows a significant anti-"Israel" sentiment among Jordanians
Despite the official peace agreement between Jordan and "Israel" for nearly three decades, a recent poll has shown that an overwhelming majority of Jordanians, comprising 84% across all age groups, are against engaging in business deals with Israeli companies, even if it could potentially benefit their country's economy. This sentiment aligns with past polls conducted between July 2020 and March 2022, indicating a consistent attitude among the Jordanian population.
The survey further revealed that Jordanians remain resolute in their opposition to various forms of cooperation with "Israel", including the acceptance of humanitarian aid, even in dire circumstances. A staggering 76% of respondents agreed with the statement that Arab countries should decline any humanitarian assistance from "Israel" in the event of natural disasters like earthquakes, similar to those witnessed recently in Syria and Turkey.

In a notable finding, a majority of 60% of Jordanians expressed some level of positivity towards the Resistance Movement Hamas firing missiles at "Israel".
However, the poll also indicated a sense of optimism among Jordanians regarding recent regional developments. A significant 53% of respondents viewed Saudi Arabia's restoration of relations with Iran in a positive light, reflecting a growing desire for de-escalation in the region.
Nevertheless, the majority of Jordanians maintain strong reservations towards any major military actions against Iran, whether initiated by the United States or "Israel". Nearly two-thirds of respondents believe that such actions would be highly perilous and ill-advised, suggesting a cautious approach to potential military confrontations.
The poll results highlight the complex and multifaceted attitudes within Jordanian society regarding "Israel" and regional dynamics. Despite the peace treaty signed decades ago, the public sentiment leans heavily against closer economic ties and cooperation with "Israel", while also reflecting a nuanced perspective on regional conflicts and alliances.
