Sudan: Former FM under Al-Bashir Rearrested
The Sudanese authorities currently ruling re-arrest the former Foreign Minister under al-Bashir, Ibrahim Ghandour, after he was released yesterday.
A source from the family of Ibrahim Ghandour, head of the former ruling National Congress Party in Sudan and former foreign minister during the era of ousted President Omar al-Bashir, said that Ghandour was re-arrested on Monday, less than a day after he was released from jail.
After his release, Ghandour called on the political parties, through the Turkish Anadolu Agency, for "comprehensive national reconciliation", stressing his country's need for dialogue to overcome the political crisis.
Ghandour said that the country's political crisis requires dialogue and reconciliation among all components to overcome it.
Former Sudanese FM had previously been detained under orders of a taskforce intended to dismantle and prevent the return of Bashir's three-decade rule, which ended in 2019.
It is worth mentioning that the Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) stressed the necessity of ending the military coup, canceling the state of emergency, and handing over full power to civilians by order of the people, who represent the source of powers.
