Syria and Jordan Discuss Strengthening Cooperation
A phone conversation between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Jordanian King Abdullah II took place, dealing with relations between the two countries and ways to develop cooperation between them.
On Sunday, Jordan's King Abdullah II received a phone call from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the first since the outbreak of war on Syria in 2011, the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) announced in a statement.
The RHC statement added that they "discussed relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of enhancing cooperation," adding that Jordan's King Abdullah II affirmed Jordan's support for efforts to preserve Syria's sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity, and people.
Jaber border crossing reopens
Last Wednesday, the Jaber border crossing between Jordan and Syria was reopened in both directions.
A week ago, a Syrian ministerial delegation visited the Jordanian capital, Amman, to activate bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Syrian ministers of water resources, agriculture, electricity, and economy arrived in Jordan through the Nassib-Jaber border crossing to hold meetings with their Jordanian counterparts to discuss energy, water, and transportation matters.
