Syria condemns Israeli claim blaming Hezbollah for Majdal Shams strike
The Syrian Mission to the United Nations shares its statement with Newsweek to defend the Lebanese Resistance and blame 'Israel' for the massacre of 12 innocent people.
Amid escalating regional tensions sparked in part by a deadly strike on the occupied territory of Majdal Shams, Syrian officials have issued a fresh warning to "Israel", as reported by Newsweek.
The Syrian Mission to the United Nations shared its statement with Newsweek which announced that Syria "categorically rejects the Israeli allegations regarding the Majdal Shams incident" and defended the support and position of the Lebanese Resistance, Hezbollah, whom Israelis blamed for the Majdal Shams massacre.
"The Syrian Arab Republic condemns the heinous crime that took place in the Syrian town of Majdal Shams, which led to the martyrdom of twelve Syrian children and the injury of others," the Syrian Mission said. "[Syria] affirms the responsibility of the Israeli occupation for that sinful attack which the Israeli occupation authorities used to falsely accuse other parties and to find pretexts to continue their attacks on countries of the region."
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah fully denied any involvement and responsibility for a deadly strike on the village of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, contrary to Israeli claims about the matter.
Hezbollah stressed that it had nothing to do with the incident, completely denying all the "false claims" in that regard.
This comes after a missile of unknown origin struck a playground in the occupied Syrian village of Majdal Shams, which is made up entirely of Druze Syrians. The strike killed 12 children and wounded at least a dozen others.

Syrian residents of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan attempted to kick out Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from the village, calling him a "fascist" and a "criminal", the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
Netanyahu and other officials have seized the opportunity, provided by the atrocious massacre, weaponizing it in order to justify a presumably intense aggression on Lebanon.
The internationally recognized sovereign over the Golan Heights, the Syrian government, condemned the "heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation," which it pointed out usurps territories and the rights of peoples.
"It is an attempt to fabricate lies and excuses to expand the circle of aggression against the peoples of the region and to escape the predicament caused by the resistance faced by this occupation in the Gaza Strip," the Syrian government added.
"We are confident that the crimes of the occupation will not undermine the determination of our steadfast and resistant people in the occupied Syrian Golan, nor will they weaken their national will and adherence to their Syrian Arab identity and their resistance to the occupation."
