Syrian army thwarts infiltration attempt by HTS militants
Al Mayadeen's correspondent says the Syrian Arab Army eliminated three Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants and injured others while repelling the infiltration attempt.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Aleppo reported that the Syrian Arab Army has thwarted an attempt by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants to infiltrate the western Aleppo countryside, specifically at the Qebtan Al-Jabal axis.
Our correspondent mentioned that the Syrian army eliminated three HTS militants and injured others while repelling the infiltration attempt.
The HTS movements come amid escalating tensions in the areas under its control in northern Syria and amid the militants' attempt to diffuse the protests against the terrorist group in the city of Idlib, its countryside, and northern Aleppo.
On Sunday, the center of Idlib witnessed renewed protests against HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, where protesters raised slogans calling for ousting him and demanded the dissolution of HTS' so-called General Security Apparatus, as well as the release of detainees.
It is noteworthy that protests against HTS and al-Jolani have been ongoing for months against the backdrop of arrests and house raids led by the terrorist group, in addition to the harassment faced by residents in areas under its control.
Earlier on Sunday, Syria's Ministry of Defense confirmed that members of the Syrian army deployed in the northern countryside of Latakia repelled a terrorist group attempting to infiltrate a military site.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry confirmed that militants were killed and wounded as a result of the confrontations.
The Syrian Arab Army continues to target terrorist organizations in various locations across the country as Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported, highlighting the casualties among HTS terrorists after they were targeted by two drones belonging to the Syrian army in the area of Nawkous in northern Latakia last Wednesday.
