Since the start of the war on Gaza, Germany has been one of the most vocal defenders of "Israel," with Chancellor Olaf Scholz reaffirming multiple times Germany's unwavering support for "Israel's" claimed right to exist, framed under the pretext of a historical responsibility Germany bears due to the Holocaust.
On Friday, the head of Germany's internal intelligence agency BfV Thomas Haldenwang warned that the anniversary of the October 7 operation could serve as a catalyst for radicalization and instability in the nation.
According to a report released in late June by the German federal monitor on anti-Semitic crimes, since the war began in October of last year, there have been 4,782 "anti-Semitic" incidents reported in the nation, compared to 2,616 instances in 2022.
These figures are used as a pretext by German authorities to clamp down on pro-Palestinian protests, limiting demonstrations and arresting participants under accusations of spreading hate speech.
