Hamas on Friday condemned US President Donald Trump for repeating what it described as “Israeli lies and false claims” accusing the movement of looting and selling humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The group asserted that Trump’s accusations are "baseless and lack any evidence," adding that they exonerate the criminal occupation and place blame on the victim.
Hamas added that such claims have been refuted by reports and testimonies from international organizations, including the United Nations, as well as by a recent internal investigation by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which confirmed that there were no reports or data indicating aid theft by Hamas.
The group stated that “what is happening in Gaza, systematic starvation and genocide, is a direct result of the occupation’s U.S.-backed policy, which uses food and medicine as weapons of war against more than two million people.”
Hamas called on the U.S. administration to stop viewing the situation through an Israeli lens and to assume its moral and legal responsibilities by condemning the starvation tactics and unjust blockade imposed by “Israel” on the Palestinian people in Gaza, and to end its support for these crimes.
The group also reiterated its call for the U.S. to support efforts to deliver aid safely and fully to all Palestinians without restrictions or conditions, emphasizing that distribution should be done through the United Nations and not via the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” which it described as a trap that endangers the hungry and those in need.
Hamas: Trump comments reinforce Israeli narrative
Days ago, senior Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq responded to statements made by US President Donald Trump denying famine in the Gaza Strip and accusing the movement of stealing aid. The movement asserted that these allegations reinforce the occupation's narrative and provide it with additional cover to continue its war of extermination against the Palestinians.
In a statement, al-Rishq condemned Trump's statements, saying they "deny the famine despite the testimony of the United Nations and international organizations, and the deaths of dozens of children from starvation due to the siege and the prevention of food and medicine entry."
The movement's leader denied allegations of aid theft, citing an internal investigation conducted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that revealed the US State Department had not provided any evidence against Hamas, and that Reuters confirmed the absence of any reports indicating systematic theft.
Al-Rishq accused the Israeli occupation of creating an environment of chaos that leads to the looting of aid, through its repeated targeting of Palestinian police officers protecting aid trucks, which facilitates the seizure of this aid by "gangs protected by the occupation."
The senior Hamas official called on the US administration to stop repeating propaganda and blatant lies made by the occupation, holding Washington responsible for the humanitarian and moral consequences of the siege, starvation, and systemic killing in Gaza.
